Most of us don't realize what is included in our Apple Care Protection Plan (APP). But one feature we should all know about is this...

***Side note, this is really only good if your computer is in working order, and does not need to be repaired rapidly.***

Included in your APP is a "on-site" service agreement with Apple. Meaning, Apple will come to your home or business to work on your machine. Yes, there is a catch. Apple must know exactly what the problem is. Like most of you, I cannot stand my local Apple Store, it and its staff are worthless drones. But, they are useful in this instance if only to get the ball rolling.

Step one: Bring your computer in for "diagnostics" with an Apple Genius.
Step two: Assuming the Genius finds a problem, have him/her generate repair paperwork, make sure to get a copy.
Step three: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR COMPUTER WITH APPLE
Step four: Take your computer and repair paperwork with you.
Step five: Call Apple Care, once connected ask someone in on-site repairs. On-site repair will do all the paperwork, etc involved. Assuming there is an autherized repair center within 50 miles of your location.
Step six: You will be contacted by the Apple Repair Technician (usually a contracted employee/company with Apple Certifications).
Step seven: Enjoy the fact that you didn't have to leave your computer with Apple for weeks when it was still working, and the fact that they will come to you to fix it.

Hope you all enjoyed. Let me know if you have questions...

BUT, it can take several days to get there to fix it.

Since my machines are in use most of the time, and I depend on them to be running. I got Apple to give me a list of authorized service providers in my area...and bring them there.

Must faster - more knowledgable.

If I'm in a pinch for time, I pay a nominal expedite charge, and get a diagnosis in two hours. Typically after that the bog is waiting for Apple to get the part in. Not bad in most cases.

Hi TM,
As I stated above, the on-site repair is only good if you have an operating (usable) machine. Otherwise its useless. Even Apple Stores offer "expedited services" with ProCare. For $99 a year, your machine always gets "priority service," again this is only helpful if the Apple Store has the parts in stock.
