Apple Changes “Lap” Suggestion
Do you remember our story last week regarding Apple’s hypocritical marketing and website suggesting to use the MacBook on your lap? Here is a clip from their Student Orientation site to refresh your memory:
Well, they no longer have the “On your lap” suggestion. Instead it has been changed to the more vague, but less condemning “Anywhere you want” as seen below:

So what does this mean? It means Apple has taken notice of our site and made a change. Unfortunately, this is not the change that us aggravated customers are looking for - we don’t want their marketing and sales literature changed, we want the problem itself to be addressed and fixed. But nonetheless this does provide some hope…
Let’s hope Apple now takes it upon themselves to fix the underlying heat issue of the MacBook and MacBook Pro’s. Since some users are reporting the newest machines to run cooler, perhaps the logic board replacements being issued on some MacBook Pros (as discussed yesterday) will provide relief. We’ll certainly keep you updated on the logic board replacement, and if it improves the heat problem as well as the CPU whine.
It should be noted that Apple continues to use the orange image of the three hipsters using Apple products, with the centered figure using a MacBook placed on his lap. See it here. This continues to defy their increasingly cautious manual suggestion and tech support quip that the MacBook and MacBook Pro are ‘notebooks’ and not ‘laptops’. We’ll see how long it lasts.
