Another website has been setup to document the mysterious lines that are appearing on some PowerBook 17″ users laptops. The site dubs the PowerBook’s screen lines “Bridget Riley”, named for the op art painter. So far the website has 28 documentated cases of the screen problem, and plenty of pictures for your viewing. An interesting note, possibly suggesting a manufacturing defect for a specific production batch reads:

The majority of the PowerBook’s that were posted on Apple’s site, were manufactured in the W8 factory based in Shanghai around April of 2005, model: M9689 PowerBook G4 1.67GHz.

We’ve reported on this issue several times in the past. Apple has deleted and locked numerous threads on their Discussion Boards about the problem, which has really peaved the afflicted consumers. Will the owners of these PowerBooks ever get a resolution?
